QS-Subject-Ranking: Six Austrian universities among the top 50

The University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) achieved the first place in the subject "Performing Arts" .

Six Austrian universities have made it into the top 50 in one of 48 study subjects in the current "QS World University Rankings by Subject".

From Austria, a total of 98 university departments from 17 Austrian universities are represented in the current QS subject rankings. The most frequently ranked are the University of Vienna (in 29 subjects), the Technical University of Vienna (13), the University of Graz (eleven) and the TU Graz (ten).

The best individual result was achieved by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw): It was able to gain first place in the performing arts, which it shares with the US Juilliard School.

The University of Vienna reached rank 16 in "Classical Philology and Ancient History" (2018: 26). The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna achieved rank 31, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in the field of agriculture and forestry got to rank 33.  The University of Vienna also featured with communication sciences (rank 35) and archeology (rank 37). The Mozarteum University Salzburg has risen to the top 50 with the performing arts (rank 32) and the Business University (WU) with "Business & Management Studies" (rank 38).
