The Austrian universities of applied sciences are primarily known as academic training centers. What is less well known to the general public is that the UAS are also research institutions.

They presented this aspect at the 14th Research Forum of Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (FFH 2021), which took place online at the FHWien of the Chamber of Commerce on April 7th and 8th, 2021.

On the subject "Shaping the future responsibly"! 16 universities of applied sciences, 10 national and international universities and 11 companies presented their projects. Their spectrum included efficient use of wind energy, digital assistance solutions for old people, responsible consumption and responsible management of small and medium-sized companies.

The FFH 2021 program comprised a total of 70 lectures and 20 poster presentations in 15 panels. Federal Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Leonore Gewessler  and Federal Minister for Education, Science and Research, Heinz Faßmann  contributed live statements in which they underlined the importance of universities of applied sciences for application and solution-oriented research.
