1 min read · 10. October 2025

The University of Vienna ranks among the top 100 universities worldwide for the first time in the current Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2025, coming in at 95th place. This makes it the highest-ranked Austrian university.

The University of Vienna performs particularly well in the areas of research, teaching and international orientation. Rector Sebastian Schütze speaks of a ‘milestone on the way to becoming a top international university’.

Since 2018, the University of Vienna has improved its THE ranking by 70 places – a continuous rise despite growing global competition.
