FERNFH is Austria's leading distance learning university. It was founded in 2006 and began offering study programmes in 2007. FERNFH plays a pioneering role as a specialist in academic online teaching, distance and blended learning.
Since more than 15 years FERNFH uses teaching and learning methods and arrangements that have led students of varying ages, social and professional backgrounds, health conditions and physical disabilities, geographical and other barriers to successfully complete their studies.
FERNFH is dedicated to breaking down individual and structural barriers to higher education and improving equal opportunities for traditional and non-traditional students interested in realising academic goals. Freemover@FERNFH offers part-time students or students with work or caring responsibilities from abroad, who would like to or need to spend a semester abroad, the opportunity to gain experience and complete their studies without having to change their place of residence for an entire semester and/or year. It is also a possibility for people who have to go abroad for work or want to travel around the world, to continue their studies while being overseas.
It's time for new skills, but you don't want to complete a whole degree programme?
The micro-credentials (MCs) at FERNFH are designed to provide practical and up-to-date know-how for the rapidly evolving professional world. At the level of a Bachelor's or Master's programme.
MCs certify the mastery of specific skills in a particular subject area and enable qualifications acquired in "small chunks" to be recognized. MCs can be acquired as part of an existing study programme or as an independent stand-alone short programme that leads exclusively to the acquisition of this qualification and typically have a scope of 5 - 15 ECTS; this usually corresponds to two to five courses.
