TU Wien and Johannes Kepler University Linz have launched a new Doctoral College in Computational Sustainability, marking the first initiative of its kind in Austria.

The college offers 15 positions for early-stage researchers who will work on interdisciplinary projects addressing ecological, social, and economic challenges through digital technologies. By combining complementary strengths in machine learning, data science, mobility research and sustainable computing, the two universities aim to foster innovative solutions aligned with global sustainability goals.

Running until 2030, the doctoral college seeks to train a new generation of researchers equipped to integrate responsible and sustainable principles directly into future computing systems.
