The case study published by the European Citizen Science Academy examines how the Prelog City Library in Croatia has implemented citizen science activities in the form of a platform: “Topotheque Prelog” is a digital archive of the city's history. The content and materials are gathered from private collections of citizens and curated by the Prelog library on the digital platform.
“Topotheque Prelog” presents the lives of the people of Prelog, with a focus on culture, art and architecture, and is accessible to everyone: citizens, students, teachers, researchers and anyone interested in the history of Prelog.
The publication provides information about the library's mission, summarizes the library's commitment to citizen science and shows how the citizen science project relates to the library's goals. It then describes in detail how the “Topotheque Prelog” was set up, the partnerships and collaborations formed, how the community was involved, the resources used, how the project was promoted, its impact, challenges and solutions, and lessons learned.
The example of Prelog Public Library is a source of inspiration and know-how about what kind of citizen science activities can be developed in a public library.
