Universities - starting in small steps

At Austrian universities, university operations will start again in small steips in the coming weeks.

Soon, laboratory exercises and individual artistic lessons will be possible again, as well as limited attendance tests. In principle, however, university operations are to remain in distance learning. Examination formats that cannot be carried out digitally or at a distance can also be handled on site again. Prerequisites are compliance with the one-meter distance rule, mouth and nose protection in the building (not during the examination itself), disinfection facilities, control of entrances and exits, etc.

At the same time, the universities should ensure normal lending operations for students and staff in their libraries again - but without opening the reading rooms. It has not yet been finally clarified how the universities will proceed with the entrance examinations for the next academic year. In most major fields of study, the registration deadlines are still running. Clarity is expected by mid-May.

The universities are planning accordingly - for details please contact the respective university directly.
